Together we will beat cancer
Hello everyone!
For the first time ever in my life I am getting involved in a charity run. The idea of me running as a whole is quite hilarious because I am terribly unfit and in need of losing a few stone, but the cause is very worthwhile I should have decided to do this years ago.
Cancer Research UK is one of the UK's leading organisations that invest into the research of one of the most destructive diseases in the world. Everyone has been affected by cancer, whether directly or through friends and family. It is important more money is raise for this cause so in the future this horrible disease can be a thing of the past.
My sponsorship page is
up and official . I am not asking for grand donations, even a few pounds will do. I appreciate every penny! (If you do sponsor me, please remember to confirm gift aid too!)
Also if there is anyone is the Derby area who fancies joining me in this race, I could do with the company! I am running on
May 9th 2009, so there is plenty of time yet. Or even if you are in the UK and a lady, please check out the races in your region and consider taking part yourself.

Who am I running for?
Everyone has had unfortunate connections to cancer. This may be personal or friends and family. It is sad to know so many people have lost their battles, but we have to remember others have survived. These charities are working to increasing that survival rate to honor those we have lost.
In 2001 my mothers best friend Janet, who our family had known for many years lost her battle to almost 7 years on and off with various cancers. She was one of the most spirited women I have ever met, and even continued working through most of her chemotherapy. She was a huge lover of Cats, Quavers and most of all a very dear friend to my mum. In fact nearly all of my family went to her funeral.
Last year one of the most influential mentors in my life, Jerry who was a lecturer at university and an excellent performing writer passed away after quietly fighting liver cancer. He believed in me as a writer and he influenced many of us who were attending his classes. A typical ginger Scotsman but with a big passion and affection for art.
There are people on here, on deviantArt who have family members who have cancer, others which sadly have a new battle to fight themselves.
I will be doing this for every single one of them and beyond.

Devious Donators!
These people here have my uppermost respect for kindly donating to this cause. Thank you ever so much for your generosity!

Some days I write those words, others they write me.
I am one who was recently diagnosed... and am still in the process of undergoing various procedures to find out just how much, and when & how it will be dealt with.
My prayers & well wishes to all who fight this insidious disease. And please go heart the article about World Cancer Day (I have it on my page if anyone needs the link).
The best to you, Becca-girl, in your run. Be sure to stay hydrated, and take care of your knees while you jog - or better yet, do what I do when I still can... power-walk!

I knew you weren't well, but not this seriously. I hope everything from now onwards is good news and we are all here to support you. It makes things like these chairity runs seem even more important.

I'm also sorry for your loss. In the past 2 years, my great uncle's wife, another great uncle of mine, and my great aunt all passed away due to cancer.
(PS tie the other runners' shoelaces when they aren't looking. hah)
