Hello all
In this quiet corner of my journal, I want to boost it with debate and thoughts!
I am starting a campaign to bring life back to this forum, and would like to know what people think about it. The fantasy forum has almost given itself a death sentence in recent months.
When I first joined DA, I classed myself as a Fantasy Writer, and I was exhilarated to find that there was actually a forum dedicated to fantasy literature. Back then, it wasn’t busy but there was a fantastic amount of fantasy related discussion, recommendations, questions and a general community feel for a genre of writing that is very popular. It was great for me, because I love the genre, and met some interesting watchers through that forum.
However, since then really- and definitely the feeling of 2007, this forum is somewhat dying. The topics have been reduced to feedback requests, most of which are not even fantasy genre pieces, but usually fan fiction and anime based. I don’t have a problem with that as such, but when it’s all this forum is receiving, it can be tedious.
What I want to do, is to just try and raise the profile of this forum again, and get some life back into it. Fantasy literature is still a very popular genre, and I can consider many deviants who probably do not know the forum is even there, or are shied away from it because of the current state. People who write fantasy literature can benefit from the use of a forum, as it is much more effective a form of communications than the chartrooms.
I’d like to see more resources and information pinned, as well as provoking more conversation and discussion. I feel if enough interest can be generated, and the forum refreshed, it would provide a new lease of life to it.
I am quite willing (Once my house move is complete) to get some information together, contact fantasy communities and writers etc and try and get something good going with this forum. I could do with some help though!

Well, if you really want to get some activity in there, you'll need to give people something to talk about other than "Critique me please!" Maybe the kind of things you put in your polls or something that people can actually discuss.
I don't know... I'd never even glanced at the forums before you linked them and... I'm not even sure where this post that I'm responding to now is. O_O We have journal forums? There's so many features on here that you don't actually see on the main page... like shout boxes and such. Unless you go looking for them, you're not likely to see them.

Promoting it in your signature is a step in the right direction. I wouldn't say literature in the sig though. Lit scares people
